Tribute

Merrick Logan Schlukebir (32) of Montgomery, IL (previously Grand Haven, MI) died unexpectedly on Thursday March 14, 2024 at Rush Copley Hospital, awaiting autopsy results.

He was born November 5, 1991 in Grand Haven, Michigan to Joel and Michele (Doering) Schlukebir. Merrick was a Graduate of Grand Haven High School. Deeply beloved husband to Lisa (Petrick) Schlukebir since November 24, 2019.

Merrick was an extremely intelligent and strategic thinking young man who loved to socialize through hobbies. Merrick loved Magic the Gathering, L.A.R.P (Live-Action-Role-Playing), and various other gaming hobbies. He loved all animals, especially his childhood dog Bruno, and our goofus dog Voodoo.  Merrick had a deeper level of empathy that some people may not have realized. He was charming, sweet, and shy, yet insanely sociable in the most random of circumstances. He considered him-self a homebody because that was where he was most comfortable and where all the people in his life were.

Merrick is survived by his loving wife Lisa (Petrick) Schlukebir, fur-baby VooDoo, Parents Joel II and Michele (Doering) Schlukebir, Parents-in-law Dan and Kathleen (Flaherty) Petrick, Grandparents Diane Schlukebir, Bobbi and Jim Maddox, and Betty Doering. His siblings Ethan and Shaskinona (Redden) Schlukebir, and Evelyn Schlukebir and her significant other Jackson Schulte. In-law siblings Elizabeth Petrick and Wyatt Cornett, Amanda (Petrick) and Norman Reynolds Jr.. Nephews Matthew and Aaron Reynolds. Neice Eleanora Reynolds.  Aunts Carla Hatton, Christine and Steve Stamper, Mark and Cindy Hamilton. As well as many family cousins. Merrick is predeceased by grandparents Joel Schlukebir, Alexander Doering “Grandpa Mike”, Uncles James Maddox, Jeff Baskin, and Cousin Lydia Hatton.
